Use the AKTR to set priorities
Import or type the Knowledge codes from your report. Confirm them, identify the related subjects, and make those topics the first focused block rather than the entire plan.
A&P oral and practical study guide
Start with the evidence you already have, practice producing answers without cues, rehearse practical assignments in a repeatable order, and finish with mixed sessions across the full rating.
The preparation sequence
Use four phases. They overlap, but each has a clear job.
Import or type the Knowledge codes from your report. Confirm them, identify the related subjects, and make those topics the first focused block rather than the entire plan.
Read or hear a prompt, answer out loud, then compare with a fixed reviewed answer and its source. Mark weak explanations and repeat the smaller stack.
Talk through how you would prepare, perform, inspect, and explain a representative job. Then answer follow-ups and compare your approach with the assignment-specific debrief.
Run balanced practice across the rating, include the areas you marked Almost or Review, and keep answers hidden until the debrief.
Choose a pace that fits your date
These schedules are planning examples, not hour guarantees. Adjust them around your instructor, work, school, and the ratings you are actually taking.
Plan by rating
If you are testing in stages, work the rating in front of you. If you still need all three, rotate them without letting familiar subjects consume the whole schedule.
CertWrench is built from the same FAA handbooks, regulations, and ACS references that define what the exam tests. The published 2023 AMT handbooks are General FAA-H-8083-30B, Airframe FAA-H-8083-31B, and Powerplant FAA-H-8083-32B.
The source hierarchy
The ACS describes the testing standard. FAA handbooks explain broad principles. Regulations govern privileges, records, maintenance performance, and approvals. The current technical data for the assigned aircraft, engine, propeller, or component controls the exact procedure and limits.
Good preparation teaches the principle and the habit of finding the applicable data. It does not turn one aircraft procedure into a universal answer.
Open the right tool
Import a report or type the codes, confirm the results, and open the related topics.
Use the AKTR guide and free toolAnswer before reveal, run Mock Orals, and repeat the topics you mark Almost or Review.
Practice oral questionsWork through representative jobs, hidden follow-ups, and job-specific debriefs.
Try practical test prepStraight answers
Use the reviewed answer to check coverage, but practice explaining the idea naturally. A memorized sentence is fragile when the examiner changes the wording or asks a follow-up.
Bring back weak explanations, source questions, and hands-on uncertainties. CertWrench organizes individual study; it works beside qualified instruction and practical experience.
Use the handbooks as authoritative reference material, but organize study around the ACS, your documented weak areas, spoken retrieval, and representative practical work. Follow the citation when you need more depth.
Close a short review stack, confirm required documents and logistics, avoid a late all-night cram, and arrive ready to explain your reasoning and use the assigned references.
